Maya Appavoo is a writer, artist, producer, and award-winning composer based in Edmonton, AB. A comedy writer at heart, she graduated twice from the Writing for Film, Television, and Games program at Vancouver Film School, but after specializing in both television and games, found a love for drama along the way.

Maya’s previous work includes writing and producing Road X, and writing for Lost Lake Games. Currently, Maya is producing and directing Doctor Love, an audio drama podcast, as well as finishing her Bachelor’s degree.

Her goal is to be able to represent herself as a queer woman of colour, and create the media she wishes she’d had growing up, so the younger generations grow up feeling less alone (or to create an army of queer brown girls who can help her take down the patriarchy, either’s fine by her).
